Puss in Boots by Charles Perrault

Illustrated by Giuliano Lunelli

Puss in Boots has been interpreted countless times since the classic French tale was first published in 1697, and Fred Marcellino provided an unstinting visual feast in his version. The adventures of that rascal, Puss, and his master, the miller's son, are portrayed in a lavish series of illustrations that range from sumptuous grandeur to comedy both boisterous and sly. Book lovers young and old will want this Puss in Boots on their shelf of special favourites.

Giuliano Lunelli's interpretation captures the insouciant charm of the original in illustrations as clever and cunning as Puss himself.

Charles Perrault was a French author and member of the Académie Française. He laid the foundations for a new literary genre, the fairy tale, with his works derived from earlier folk tales, published in his 1697 book Histoires ou contes du temps passé.

Giuliano Lunelli was born on December 8, 1966, in Trento, Italy. As a child, his favourite crafting material was wood, under the watchful eye of his carpenter father. Making his own toys allowed him to unleash his imagination. He first drew airplanes and ships, then made them out of wood. After graduating from art school, Giuliano Lunelli worked as a printer and photolithographer. This drew his attention to painting, and he went to Milan to attend the European Institute of Painters. Upon returning to Trento, he worked as an illustrator in an advertising agency. In 1996, Lunelli participated in an exhibition for "Painters of Bologna," and that's how he began painting for children. Giuliano Lunelli lives alone. He keeps bees, makes honey, and enjoys eating organic produce. He listens to various types of music and enjoys swimming. Giuliano has been to Cuba, but otherwise, he travels very little. Giuliano Lunelli's dream is to visit every art gallery in every city.
