Kate Walker's first picture book, Marty Moves to the Country, was Highly Commended by the Children's Book Council in their 1981 Picture Book of the Year Awards. Since then she has written many other books, including The Frog Who Would Be King, Burying Aunt Renee, The Letters of Rosie O'Brien and The Dragon of Smith. Her novel Peter was an Honour Book in the CBC's Book of the Year (Older Readers) Awards in 1992. Kate lives in Newcastle, New South Wales.

David Cox spent many years in the newspaper industry and was awarded the prestigious Walkley Award for illustration. He has also twice been Commended by the Children's Book Council: for Tin Lizzie and Little Nell in 1983, and for Ayu and the Perfect Moon in 1985. He now works from his Brisbane home as a freelance writer and illustrator of children's books. David's list of book titles includes The Slumber Party, written by Margaret Wild, and Granny O'Brien and the Diamonds of Selmore, written by Mike Dumbleton.
