No Hat Brigade by Miriam Airey

Illustrated by Sharon Dye

Sponsored by the Queensland Cancer Fund, this picture book tells the story of a special friendship between a grandpa and grandson. Like many older Australians, Grandpa John doesn't wear a hat, referring to himself as a member of the "no hat brigade". His membership and lack of protection makes grandson Lachlan very worried, until he is finally able to convince his grandpa of the benefits of a hat and is surprised by his eventual choice!

This story uses a special family relationship to communicate this very important health issue, reinforcing to children the message of sun-awareness and protection.
