Drummond: The Search for Sarah by Sally Farrell Odgers

Illustrated by Carol Jones

Sarah Jordan and her brother Nicholas were perfectly ordinary people - until the day they met Drummond.

So begins this irresistible story of a long-lost teddy bear who, suddenly and unexpectedly brought to life by Sarah and Nicholas, begins a search for his original owner - a Sarah from an earlier time.

Sarah and Nicholas might have been perfectly ordinary people, but Drummond is no ordinary bear. For a start, he can talk.  Added to that is his irrepressible personality and a loveable quirkiness which will endear him to readers of all ages.

Sally Farrell Odgers, born in 1957, grew up on a dairy farm at Latrobe (Tasmania), where she still lives, with her husband Darrell and two children, James and Tegan. She began writing in her teens and had her first book (Her Kingdom for a Pony) published when she was only nineteen. Since then she has become a prolific writer: as well as her many books for children, she also contributes articles to newspapers and journals and has written a tourist guide to Tasmania and a handbook for adults on writing for children.

Carol Jones, born in Bournville (England) in 1942, studied book illustration at Birmingham College of Arts. After graduating, she worked on various freelance illustrating assignments in London and, after a period in Toronto (Canada), worked at the BBC as an artist and designer for the children's television programs Play School and Jackanory. She emigrated to Australia in 1972 and now lives in Wollongong (NSW) with her schoolteacher husband and two children, Mark and Sally.
